En el artículo "Humanising - what's in a word", en HLT, Philip Kerr, luego de explicar en detalle la evolución de los enfoques humanistas en ELT (English language teaching), terrmina resumiendo los tres principios esenciales subyacen al enfoque de lo que Pilgrims y Mario Rinvolucri, 20 años después, siguen considerando "el corazón" de la enseñanza y aprendizaje humanista en L2.
